Tropical Storm Irma Brings Rain, Wind To The Southeast

Allyson Rae has your latest weather updates.

This web article was last updated on Monday, September 11th, 2017. Since then, Irma became a post-tropical depression and impacts will fade throughout the rest of the week.

Yesterday, Irma made landfall in the lower Florida Keys this morning just after 9 AM as a Category 4 Hurricane and then made landfall again near Marco Island as a category 3 and continues to track north through Florida on this Monday morning.

Being that Irma has been over land for some time now, the friction of land and lack of availability to pull in more warm ocean water has led to a gradual weakening in both structure and wind speeds. As of the 11AM Advisory, Irma remains a tropical storm with max winds of 65 mph and a few gusts to hurricane strength.

Tropical Storm Warning stretch into Georgia where Irma will move later today, bringing strong winds, rain and a threat of tornadoes.
