WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Crews worked overnight to finish re-striping about 1,000 feet of northbound I-395 ahead of Thursday's morning commute.
Re-striping on I-395 between Duke Street and Seminary Road is complete, but one northbound lane remains closed for construction of the HOV ramp.
A contractor failed to finish re-striping before Wednesday's morning commute, according to a VDOT spokesperson.
Lanes were incorrectly striped from Landmark toward King Street, Jennifer McCord said, adding that the lanes appeared to be too wide and were confusing drivers.
Virginia Mega Projects spokesperson Mike Salmon said crews were re-striping and shifting three lanes of I-395 north between Duke and Seminary Road to make room for the construction of a new HOV ramp.
The striping was not finished by Wednesday morning in the regular lanes, and the solid white line between the shoulder and the left lane was not there, Salmon said. Crews put out traffic barrels to delineate the travel lanes Wednesday.
