Street Smart campaign begins in DC, Md, Va

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Warmer spring weather means we all want to be outside more and it also means police are asking drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians to stay alert and watch out for each other.

The Annual Street Smart campaign has begun across D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Law enforcement agencies will be on the lookout for anyone not following traffic safety laws and will ticket and fine violators, whether on foot, a bike, or behind the wheel.

Violators can face fines that range from $40 to $500.
