RV fire shuts down both lanes of traffic on I-495

MONTGOMERY CO. (WUSA9) - Traffic was halted on the Beltway Saturday evening after an RV fire forced I-495 to be shut down in both directions.

The RV caught fire near River Road around 6:15 p.m., causing the closure between MD-190/River Rd and the I-270 interchange.

The fire was put out about 30 minutes later. One lane of traffic was opened on the Inner Loop, while the Outer Loop remained closed.

Nobody was injured.

Photos shared on social media showed gridlocked traffic and drivers wandering around the interstate.
