Metro to hold news conference on 42-day shutdown

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld will hold a news conference on Monday to discuss the next phase of its safety overhaul.

The ninth phase will involve around-the-clock single-tracking between Vienna and West Falls Church and four weekend shutdowns, Metro said in a statement.

This phase of the plan will be its longest, lasting for 42 days. It begins September 19.

Orange Line riders at Vienna and Dunn Loring are urged to consider alternate travel options.
