Man who died in crash on Rt. 28 in Md. ID'd

(WUSA9) -- Montgomery County police have identified a man who died in a crash on Darnestown Rd. (Rt. 28) north of Beallsville Rd. on Thursday morning.

According to Montgomery County Police spokesperson Capt. Paul Starks, a single vehicle crash was reported by another driver around 4:05 a.m.

According to police, a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire was traveling eastbound on Darnestown Road and for some reason crossed the center line, traveled into the westbound lane, and left the roadway. It hit a utility pole and overturned before stopping at the entrance to the Woodstock Equestrian Park.

Police say the driver, the only occupant in the vehicle, was ejected. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Police have identified him as 58-year-old Kenneth James Lovelett.

Route 28 in Montgomery County has reopened. Montgomery County Police tweeted that utility work is not complete yet.

Police say there may be delays in the area.
