WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Officials have issued flash flood warnings for some of the counties in the area.

The warning remains in effect until 6:45 p.m. for East Central Loudoun County, West Central Montgomery and South Central Frederick Counties, according to officials.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy rain is expected which can cause flash flooding. 1-2 inches of rain has already fallen in some of the areas, according to the weather radar.

Residents are advised to take caution during a flash flood warning.

  • Frederick County, Maryland
  • Montgomery County, Maryland
  • Washington County, Maryland
  • Loudoun County, Virginia
  • Berkeley County, West Virginia
