Meteorologist Erica Grow joined the WUSA 9 Weather Team in September 2012 as the weekend evening meteorologist. She currently provides forecasts and co-hosts the weekend morning newscast, and she also shares forecasting duties with Allyson Rae on WUSA 9's weekday morning and noon shows. Erica joins WUSA 9 from WTNH in New Haven, Connecticut. Erica also spent 3 years as a Meteorologist/Reporter at WPVI in Philadelphia, and she began her forecasting career in Midland, TX and Harrisburg, Pa.
Erica was born and raised in eastern Pennsylvania, and graduated from Penn State University in 2002 with a degree in Meteorology. In 2012, she earned the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society. She is also currently a member of the AMS's Board on Enterprise Communication.
Erica considers herself a scientist at heart, and loves nothing more than sharing her passion for weather and science at local schools. She is also on the STEM Advisory Council (Science, Technology, Education and Math) for the brand-new Children's Science Center in northern Virginia, and is a STEM mentor through the National Girls Collaborative Project.
In her free time, Erica loves watching football and baseball, and running outdoors. Her adopted Golden Retriever mix, Twango, is a certified Therapy Dog, and the two can be found visiting nursing homes in the Metro area.
