WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A semi truck got stuck under an overpass in a northbound lane of the Rock Creek Parkway on Friday morning.
A commercial truck got stuck under Whitehurst Freeway Bridge on Rock Creek Parkway just before 6 a.m., according to U.S. Park Police. Commercial vehicles are not supposed to be on the parkway due to low clearance issues for trucks and signs are posted. There's an 11-foot clearance.
Park Police say heavy duty equipment is being brought to the scene to remove the truck.
Northbound lanes of the parkway remain closed. Southbound lanes will remain open, with periodic restrictions to one lane as needed for the incident. This closure will remain in effect for an undetermined length time.
Authorities are asking drivers to avoid the area. There is no estimated time for the removal of the truck.
