WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- It's Terrible Traffic Tuesday: the day that everyone returns to work and to school. Thousands of kids will go back to school on buses in Virginia this morning.

Traffic anchor Monika Samtani is keeping track of major traffic incidents that could impact your commute.
A pedestrian was struck on Research Blvd and West Gudie in Rockville. Crews have just arrived on the scene.
There was an accident on the Outer Loop at Georgia Avenue and a crash on southbound I-270 at Shady Grove Road in the left lane.
Sky 9 flew over the inbound side of I-66 through the Fairfax area. We saw brake lights on throughout all lanes inbound toward the Beltway. I-95 looked pretty much the same coming up from Dumfries and a bit in Springfield.
Trees and wires are down in the 11000 block of MacArthur Blvd. All lanes are blocked. Pepco crews are on the scene. A Pepco spokesperson says 40 customers are affected by the outage. He tells us that as tree fell on wires at approximately 10:30 p.m. Monday and that crews have been working at the scene to make repairs since 11 p.m. He says the estimated restoration time is 9 a.m.
An accident blocked Route 124 at Firstfield in Gaithersburg, Md. Monika suggested using Rt. 117 to Perry Parkway to Rt. 355.
Metro is also experiencing some issues. The Metrorail Farragut North Connecticut Avenue entrance is closed due to a water main break outside the station. The L & K St entrances remain open.
MARC trains are also running late. "MARC train 876 is 35-40 late; MARC train 878 15-20 late" tweeted Monika. She also tweeted "MARC Brunswick Train 892 is running 30 minutes late..#Metro is honoring tix."
