FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Maryland State Police say a person notifying others about a crash was then struck by a tractor trailer on Monday morning.
According to police, someone crashed a Pontiac Firebird on westbound I-70 at the 60 mile marker and then left it in a lane. Someone stopped to "notify traffic of the abandoned vehicle." Then, a tractor trailer swerved to avoid the scene but hit the pedestrian, say police. Then the tractor trailer traveled through a guardrail and over an embankment.
Police tell us that the pedestrian was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital and was treated for minor injuries.
The driver of the tractor trailer was unharmed, say police.
Police are still looking for the driver of the Firebird.
The eastbound lanes of I-70 were closed while the truck was removed from the scene.
