COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- The State Highway Administration has announced that the speed limit along US 1 (Baltimore Avenue) in College Park has been reduced from 30 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour.
The State Highway Administration said on Wednesday that more than a dozen signs have been installed to officially lower the speed limit between Guilford Road/ Guliford Drive and Berwyn Road. The Highway Administration says that the goal of the new speed limit is to slow drivers so they will be more attentive to pedestrian traffic on US 1.
The new speed limit will be enforced by local and university law enforcement. Speed cameras will also be monitoring US 1, College Park City Council recently approved 24/7 usage of the cameras on that road.
