WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Memorial Day Weekend is the start of the summer travel season, but traffic data company INRIX says traffic will be 25% worse this year than the Memorial Day holiday last year. So here are the best and worst times to travel Friday:

The ideal time to get on the road will be between 10 and 11 a.m. Leave by noon at least and in the evening leave after 7 p.m.

Scott Broom brings you the story. WUSA9

Peak travel times to Virginia Beach on I-95 and to Ocean City along Rt. 50 will be between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Afternoon rush hour is also expected to be much longer than normal. It's also a good idea to gas up the car and do your safety checks before you head out on the road.
