ASHBURN, Va. (WUSA9) -- One person is dead after a car crashed into a utility pole in Virginia.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is investigating the fatal crash in the area of Old Ryan Road west of Croson Lane in Ashburn. Deputies arrived at the scene shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a single vehicle crash into a utility pole. According to authorities, the utility pole broke in half.
A passersby discovered a 2004 Hyundai Elantra which had crashed into a utility pole. There were no witnesses to the crash.
The driver has been identified as 20-year-old August A. Krier, 20, of Herndon, Virginia.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
