FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Crews will begin work on replacing the Boyers Mill Road Bridge over Lake Linganore in Frederick on or around May 12, say city officials.
A new 300-foot bridge will be placed over Lake Linganore on a new alignment west of the existing crossing, say officials. There will also be approximately 820 feet of approach road work.
Officials say once traffic has been shifted to the new bridge, the old bridge will be removed.
There will be some traffic changes. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained for a majority of the work, say officials. For approximately 2 to 3 months, a temporary traffic signal will help maintain a single lane of traffic.
There could also be up to 10 weekend closures of Boyers Mill Road for the delivery and placement of concrete beams and other work, warn officials.
Officials hope to notify residents of any traffic updates via press releases.
The project is expected to be completed by late summer 2016.
