WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- There will be no access to the HOV lanes on I-95 for drivers in Virginia this weekend -- and on most weekends throughout the spring and summer.

VDOT will be closing the high-occupancy vehicle lanes on I-95 and I-395 from Friday night through Sunday mornings.

The entire HOV lanes will be closed from the D.C. line to Dumfries to work on the new extension of the express lanes into Stafford County, which are scheduled to open in early 2015.
