WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Wednesday morning, drivers on I-270 are experiencing major traffic delays for the third time this week. A huge pothole has led to flat tires and lanes are blocked, resulting in a traffic jam.
Maryland State Police say they do not know what caused the hole in lane one of the Route 85 overpass on southbound I-270. That lane is currently closed.
Police tell us the State Highway Administration will attempt to make repairs. They are unsure how long the lane will be closed.
In Virginia, an accident involving a pedestrian closed Claiborne Parkway at Waxpool Road in Ashburn. Authorities say the pedestrian died from her injuries. Police are investigating.
