Monika Samtani has enjoyed being a media professional for over 20 years. She is an award-winning journalist, receiving Maryland's Achievement in Public Information Award for her reporting during the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the DC Sniper attacks that paralyzed the community.
She is currently the traffic reporter on WUSA 9's Morning News, and produces the "Extra Mile" segment on transportation issues. Monika is President of Ms. Media, producing videos and providing public speaking training. She is the founder of the Launch Network, a premiere networking organization connecting entrepreneurs and professional women in the U.S. Monika also freelances as a news anchor for government agencies.
Monika serves on the Board of Directors of the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Foundation, and TiE-DC (The Indus Entrepreneurs is a networking organization made up of C-level executives across the DC metro region). She is on the Executive Committee for the American Diabetes Association and is a consultant on a global World Bank 'Entertainment Education" (EE) project.
Monika has traveled around the world and loves movies, reading, biking, and tennis. She is constantly inspired by the people she meets every day through her job, and feels lucky to be able to tell their stories. Monika is a native Washingtonian, married with three wonderful kids, and thrilled to be part of the WUSA 9 team.
