Maryland power forward denies rumors that he's leaving the Maryland basketball program.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WUSA9)— Since the end of the most recent college basketball season, Maryland basketball has been hit with several defections. Seth Allen, Nick Faust, Shaquille Cleare, and Roddy Peters all members of Head Coach Mark Turgeon's first recruiting class at Maryland, announced they were leaving the program.
It appears Turgeon is getting some good news. On Wednesday, power forward Charles Mitchell told a member of the WUSA9 staff that he was remaining at the University of Maryland. Mitchell had been rumored to be leaving school as well but denied those reports.
Mitchell will be a junior this upcoming season. As a sophomore he averaged 6.5 points and 6.3 rebounds. He registered a season high 15 points against Abilene Christian November 13th and a grabbed a season high 18 rebounds at North Carolina State January 20th.
