(AP) -- Clemson has hired UAB's Audra Smith as its new women's basketball coach.
A person familiar with the situation spoke to The Associated Press Monday on condition of anonymity because Clemson has not officially announced Smith's hiring.
Smith is expected to be introduced on campus later Monday. She replaces Itoro Coleman, a former standout guard for the Tigers who was fired last month after going only 25-63 in three seasons as head coach and 10-38 against Atlantic Coast Conference competition.
Smith has spent the past nine seasons at UAB with a 138-138 record. The Blazers went 18-13 this past season and played in the WNIT, losing a first-round contest to Auburn.
