Washington, D.C. (WUSA9)--Dr. William Walker was named American University's 14th Director of Athletics Thursday morning.

"I really like what American University has to offer," said Walker.

"I'm coming to an institution that values the academic side as well as the athletic side." Walker, a former Air Force Colonel, served as Deputy Director of Athletics at the Air Force Academy prior to coming to AU. Walker will join the AU staff in April.
