BETHESDA, Md. (WUSA9) — The colors are all around for Patrick Reed. He wears a black and grey outfit, his game renders red numbers on the scoreboard. Reed is one of the more nondescript golfers on the course.
"Yeah it's a good start, but it's early we still have three days to go," says Reed.
The competition's in trouble if this obscure assassin keeps firing darts like he did during Thursday's opening round at the Quicken Loans National. Quite a story, considering team Reed is a little disjointed these days.
"When he's playing well it's easy to be outside the ropes. When he's playing well it's easy," says Reed's wife.
Meet Patrick's other half, Justine, who normally carries his golf bag, despite barely being bigger than the bag itself.
"No, I'm no bigger than the bag, but that's just how it is," says Justine laughing.
She's been just as visible on the tour as her husband, but these days she's outside the ropes because she gave birth recently.
"Yeah, it completely changes your life," says Justine.
While Justine recovers outside the ropes, her younger brother, Kessler, replaces her inside the ropes.
"Yeah I'm the stand in guy," says Kessler laughing.
And big/little sis has given him some stern specific instructions.
"I told him get with the program. I think I have to do that with both of them," says Justine.
The way Patrick is playing it's obvious hubby and brother are apparently doing a pretty good job at following orders.
