After finishing T23 at the U.S. Open this weekend, Rory McIlroy hopped an airplane across the Atlantic to play in the Irish Open, which starts Thursday at Fota Island Resort in Cork. He better hope they have club rentals.
There's nothing like a global superstar passive-aggressively tweeting an airline about lost baggage to remind that you that the rich and famous aren't that different from us. Except when an airline loses my bag, I'm temporarily out a toothbrush, socks and a couple of 15-year-old T-shirts I used to wear in college. When Rory's bag is lost, he's out his fully-customized sticks that have helped him win $3.2 million on the golf course this year.
United responded to McIlroy's tweet two hours later.
United has good news, if you have a loose interpretation of what constitutes "good."
Just in time to play a practice round.
