WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A Washington Redskins player has been suspended for violating the National Football League's drug policy, Redskins officials said.

"Tanard Jackson of the Washington Redskins has been suspended indefinitely without pay for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse," the Redskins news release said.

The team said that Jackson's suspension begins immediately.
