MIAMI (AP) - Alonzo Mourning was urged to keep his Basketball Hall of Fame induction speech to 10 minutes.
He's going to need more time than that.
Mourning will be giving plenty of thank-yous from the lectern in Springfield, Massachusetts on Friday night, when he's part of the latest class to enter what he calls the pinnacle of his sport. The 6-foot-10, seven-time All-Star who needed a kidney transplant on his way to becoming an NBA champion with the Miami Heat says he can't remember a more humbling award.
The 44-year-old Mourning will be introduced at the induction ceremony by John Thompson, his college coach from Georgetown, and Pat Riley, his coach with the Heat.
