WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Monika Samtani has your traffic look ahead for July 4.
Forty-one-million Americans will travel 50 miles or more this holiday weekend, 85 percent by car.
If you're going into D.C. July 4 for the fireworks, you'll want to use Metro. Many major roads will be closed around the National Mall from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol grounds, past the Jefferson Memorial to Constitution Avenue.
Metro is open until 3 a.m. with off-peak fares. Once you get there, remember security checkpoint lines could be long. There's an AMTRAK train leaving Union Station back to New York tonight at 11:05 p.m.
Fireworks begin around 9:10 p.m.
