On Friday at 7:00 p.m. through Monday at 12:00 am, expect single lane closures on eastbound Suitland Parkway from Alabama Avenue to Meadowview Drive for underground utility upgrades. One lane of traffic will remain open during the work period.

The Nike Women's Half Marathon will be held on Sunday and cause the closure of roads. The following roads/locations will be closed at the specified times below:

6:00 am to 12:00 pm --

Maine Ave at ramp to 395 south

15th Street between Independence Avenue and Maine Avenue

Independence Avenue between 15th Street and 23rd Street

Rock Creek Parkway from 23rd Street to Virginia Avenue

Ohio Drive from 23rd St. to Inlet Bridge

East Basin Drive

West Basin Drive

Haines Point

Memorial Bridge and Memorial Circle (reopened at 9:30 a.m.)

4:00 am to 12:00 pm

VIRGINIA:

Virginia Department of Transportation officials say that there will be HOV lane closures on I-95/395 this weekend. From Friday at 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, VDOT will close the HOV lanes from the Washington D.C. line to Dumfries, just south of Exit 152 (Route 234.

Lanes will head south Saturday morning through 2 p.m. when they will then reverse and head north.

Here is the weekend schedule for times and direction of the I-95/395 HOV lanes:

Friday night April 25 from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday morning April 26:

HOV lanes closed from the D.C. line to Dumfries, Exit 152, Route 234

Saturday April 26 from 9 a.m. to 11p.m.:

HOV lanes open from Dumfries to just south of the Franconia-Springfield Parkway

HOV lanes closed between the Franconia Springfield Parkway and Turkeycock (Edsall Road)

HOV lanes open from Turkeycock (Edsall Road) to the Washington D.C. line

Saturday night April 26 from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday morning April 27:

HOV lanes closed from Dumfries, Exit 152, Route 234 to the DC line

Sunday April 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.:

HOV lanes open from Dumfries to just south of the Franconia-Springfield Parkway

HOV lanes closed between the Franconia Springfield Parkway and Turkeycock (Edsall Road)

HOV lanes open from Turkeycock (Edsall Road) to the Washington D.C. line

HOV facility open in its entirety by 2 p.m. heading north.

VDOT says Sunday night, the shoulder widening project will be implementing a full road closure of I-95 north prior to exit 156, near the Truck weigh station. Multiple lanes will begin closing at 10:30 p.m. before the road is closed completely after midnight to allow for overhead sign structure placement. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. Monday.

Officials with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office say several events this weekend may cause traffic delays.

On Saturday, a 5k race beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Freedom High School will follow Riding Center Drive, Fortitude Terrace, Justice Drive, Neighborly Lane, Mandolin Street, Pelican Street and Talent Street. The event is expected to end at 9:30 a.m.

A parade will also take place on Saturday at Park View High School starting at 8 a.m. The event will travel the access road and will end at Sterling Middle School. The event will be over by 9:30 a.m.

A similar parade will take place in Ashburn at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The parade will begin at St. Theresa's Catholic Church and will travel from Windmill Drive and ends at Greg Crittendon Park.

Expect increased traffic in the area of the Village Center Plaza in Aldie for an event that will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, say officials.

A parade in Hamilton, Va. on Saturday will begin at 11 a.m. from the Hamilton Safety Center and end at the west-end of town.

There will be some increased traffic on Saturday on Sugarland Run Drive for an event at Meadowland Elementary School that runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

An event in downtown Leesburg will close King Street between North Street and Loudoun Street as well as Market Street between Church Street and Wirt Street beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The streets will remain closed until Sunday at 10 p.m.

A 5k race in Leesburg will affect Catoctin Circle and Harrison Street from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

On Sunday drivers can expect increased traffic on Foxcroft Road, and the area of Route 50 from Middleburg to Upperville, due to two events in the Middleburg area from noon until 6 p.m.
