Biloxi, Mississippi -- A truck driver's dash-mounted camera captured his heroism after he rushed towards a fiery wreck to help the occupants trapped inside on Aug. 11.
David Fredrickson was driving on I-10 in Biloxi, Mississippi when a car T-boned a semi truck and caused a huge explosion right in front of him.
Fredrickson stopped his truck, grabbed a fire extinguisher and rushed out to the vehicle. After temporarily extinguishing the flames, he pried the passenger door open as other motorists rushed over to help.
With their help, they were able to get the female driver and one-year-old girl out safely.
The video was uploaded to YouTube by Frederickson' son, who wrote:
"Thankfully my father had the presence of mind, bravery, and forethought of carrying a fire extinguisher, to be the first person on scene to risk his own life in order to possibly save another and to inspire others and lead them into taking action. Everyone involved in the rescue effort is a hero in my books."
WPVI-TV reports the car doors had been jammed shut from the crash, preventing the female driver from getting out. She suffered a broken leg, and all others involved in the crash sustained only minor injuries.
