BOSTON (AP) - A Massachusetts man who took part in a meeting six years ago between Pope Benedict XVI and victims of clergy sex abuse says he hopes another summit planned soon with Pope Francis will be more productive.
The forthcoming meeting at the Vatican between Francis and a half-dozen victims is being organized by Cardinal and Boston Archbishop Sean O'Malley. It is expected to take place in the coming months.
McDaid and four other victims met briefly with Benedict in Washington in 2008. He says he expects the next meeting to be a similar "dog-and-pony show" with no real results.
McDaid and other advocates want to hold church leaders accountable.
In his announcement Monday, Francis revealed three bishops are under investigation by the Vatican for abuse-related reasons.
