Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - A pit bull-lab mix is being credited with saving his owner's life after dialing 911 while his owner suffered a seizure.

Terry McGlade's dog, Major, stepped on the phone's screen for a few seconds at a time to call 911.

Major was waiting in the front yard for police when they arrived.

He took them to the back where McGlade was unconscious.

After two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, McGlade was wounded by a roadside bomb.

Major is a rescue dog trained to sense his owner's seizures.

While Major helps his owner with many tasks, McClade said he was surprised at the dog's ability to use the phone; Major was never specifically trained to dial 911.
