PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A circus performer injured in an accident that sent eight acrobats plummeting 20 feet to the ground has been released from a Rhode Island hospital.
The hospital said Tuesday night Samantha Pitard has been discharged.
It says four others remain in serious condition. It says three others have asked that no more information be released about them. The hospital had said Tuesday morning four of the eight were in good condition.
Local investigators say they have completed an initial probe into the accident and are turning over a broken clip and other material to federal workplace safety investigators.
The clip was one of several pieces at the top of a chandelier-like apparatus suspending the acrobats during the performance of a hair-hanging stunt at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus.
The circus says it's replacing the clips.
