MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County Police said a suspect took an ambulance for a ride on Friday a little after midnight in the Wheaton, Md. area.
Police said the incident happened around 12:06 a.m., while the ambulance unit was on a call and was parked in an apartment complex in the 10800 block of Georgia Avenue.
The crew saw that the ambulance was missing and contacted the police. Officers found the ambulance a few minutes later, around 12:13 a.m. close by, in the 2300 block of Plyers Mill Road.
Fire Department officials told WUSA9 the ambulance was not damaged and no medication or equipment was missing. Authorities also said nothing else appeared to be missing from the ambulance.
A police spokeswoman declined to refer to the incident as a 'joy ride,' however had no information about the possible motive for taking the ambulance.
