FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA9) -- A 41-year-old woman from Virginia was sentenced Friday to 3 years in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release for committing tax fraud.

Officials say Thuy Tien Le, of Sterling, Va., pleaded guilty in April for preparing false income tax returns and committing wire fraud, in connection with her operation of a tax return preparation business called T2 Advantage Services, LLC. Le was also ordered to pay $456,305 in restitution to the IRS and other victims, and to forfeit to the government the proceeds of her crimes.

According to court documents, from 2005 through 2013, Le owned T2 Advantage Services, LLC, a tax return preparation business she operated from her home in Fairfax, Va. During this time, Le prepared and filed false income tax returns for more than 100 taxpayers, without their knowledge or consent, and caused more than $450,000 in fraudulently generated income tax refunds to be deposited electronically into bank accounts she controlled.
