ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- Two nurses worked "overtime" on Wednesday evening, when they stopped to deliver a baby on Route 1 near Fort Belvoir, while driving home from their shifts.

It happened at around 8 p.m. when they noticed a man who pulled over to the side of a median and ran out of his vehicle.

Misty Gray and Latoya Brown approached the car, where they noticed a woman with her legs up and "that look," on her face, according to Gray.

The baby's head was crowning and the two nurses went to work and delivered the baby by the side of the road.

The nurses called 911 on the car's blue-tooth device and the baby and mother were taken to Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, where they are doing just fine.
