UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- Deputies conducted a warrant operation focused on suspects wanted for child support related warrants in Md. between May 7 - May 9 and arrested a total of 30 suspects.
The Office of the Sheriff Child Support Enforcement Unit (CSEU) said they arrested 30 people representing child support arrears of more than $442,000.
Prince George's County Office of the Sheriff said the child support sweep team consisted of three teams, including CSEU deputies, along with deputies from the Warrant Fugitive Division, Landlord and Tenant Division, and the Domestic Violence Intervention Division.
Authorities said they tried to take care of over 100 child support warrants. One of the people arrested owed $42,000 in child support.
"With deputy support from other Divisions to augment our teams, our two-day Mother's Day Warrant Sweep was a success. This is the core of our partnership with the State Office of Child Support Enforcement, to bring these individuals to the courts and to facilitate the collection of dollars that provide for the care of children in the care of custodial parents." said Lieutenant Bowers, Commander, and Child Support Enforcement Unit.
