STERLING, Va. (WUSA9) -- A malfunctioning HVAC system caused the brief evacuation of a small portion of terminal A at Dulles International Airport.
Airport officials said a smokey haze was reported around 9 a.m. in the area of gates A-1 to A-6 for United Express. It was caused by a rooftop air conditioning unit, which has been located, isolated and turned off, according to officials.
The incident happened at off-peak travel hours, so the impact on flights has been minimal. Officials said a small number of passengers and employees were moved to another area of the terminal temporarily.
