STERLING, Va. (WUSA9) -- Two armed robberies committed this past weekend in Loudoun County are linked to four previous robberies from February of this year and December 2013, say sheriff's office authorities. The victims are all women and the suspect descriptions are similar.

A 52-year-old woman reported that, at 5 a.m. Saturday in the 21000 block of Stanford Sq. in Sterling, she was going to a friend's house when a man knocked on the window of her vehicle. The man, who had a gun, then opened her car door and demanded money. She told police the man ordered her out of her car and told her to take off her pants. Then, the man sexually assaulted her. He fled after hearing the woman's friend approaching the car.

The man was described as a Black male, approximately 6 feet tall, and in his late twenties. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood up to help conceal his face, say police.

In the incident in the 1200 block of E. Severn Way, the suspect was described as a male, 5'8" to 5'10" tall, with a blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood up to conceal his face and sunglasses. In that case, deputies responded to a call for a woman found injured. A 62-year-old woman told them that at 5:35 a.m. on Saturday, she was approached by a man who attempted to grab her purse. They struggled before the man hit her with a blunt object she described as a handgun. She received minor injuries, say authorities. The man was able to flee with the purse.

In February, detectives released a composite sketch of a suspect believed to be involved in four armed robberies in the Sterling area. Two of those robberies also happened on Stanford Square. On February 9, a woman was returning to her apartment when a man approached her at her apartment door on Stanford Square. He had a firearm and demanded her wallet. On February 14, a woman was walking back to her apartment when a man with a firearm approached her, demanded her wallet and told her to remove her jacket. She screamed and the suspect fled the area, say authorities. She went to her apartment and contacted authorities. The suspect was described as a man with a medium complexion and in his twenties.

Authorities believed the February cases may be related to robberies in December 2013. A woman reported that a man approached her in the 46500 block of Lynnhaven Square on December 29, 2013 with a firearm and demanded she drop several items and remove some clothing. The woman then ran into her home leaving her belongings behind and later found her purse was missing, say authorities.

According to authorities, a short time later another incident was reported in 10200 block of Mckean Court. A man approached a woman who was unloading groceries. He brandished a firearm and pointed the weapon at her, say police. When she screamed, the man fled the area without taking anything.

The man in the December cases was described as a light skinned Black male, approximately 5'8" tall, with a medium build and in his mid-to-late twenties. He was wearing a dark hoodie that was concealing his face and was possibly driving a small burgundy or red colored vehicle, said authorities.
