LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- Maryland State Police have arrested a woman who they say stabbed a man multiple times with a screw driver.

It happened on Sunday, July 20 around 1:35 p.m. at a 7-Eleven located at 9250 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring, police said. They say the victim, a 46-year-old man from Greenbelt, and the suspect, 45-year-old Elsa Torres, also from Greenbelt, were traveling southbound on I-95 at Route 198 in Laurel when an argument began.

Police say it escalated to the point that Torres stabbed the victim several times with a screwdriver. The victim then drove to the 7-Eleven where he requested medical assistance and was transported to a local hospital.

Torres is charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, 1st and 2nd degree assault.
