SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County police have arrested a man who they say bit a security guard while trying to steal a bag of chicken wings.

Mall security spotted 50-year-old Michael K. Ray of Silver Spring inside the Brass Hen restaurant at the City Place Mall after hours Monday night.

Police say the when the security guard confronted Ray, he climbed back over the restaurant counter and tried to flee with a bag of chicken wings.

A second security guard came to help the first guard security guard. Ray then bit the first security guard in the upper arm and fled from the mall, according to police.

An officer looking for the suspect saw Ray walking north on Colesville Road and took him into custody.

Police say Ray appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. During questioning, he admitted to taking the food and biting the security guard.

Ray was transported to the Central Processing Unit and charged with second degree burglary, theft, and second degree assault.
