WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- Police say a woman holding a 5-year-old girl assaulted a police officer responding to a domestic disturbance in Prince William County.

Police were called to the 11800 block of Critton Circle in Woodbridge, Va. on April 29 for the report of a domestic disturbance. Following an investigation, police say 38-year-old Believe Amponsah, of the 11800 block of Critton Circle, became aggressive towards officers as they attempted to arrest a member of her family.

Police say Amponsah pushed and grabbed an officer while holding the victim, a 5-year-old girl. Officers completed the arrest of the family member and later obtained warrants for Amponsah. She was arrested without incident and faces charges of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
