GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Anne Arundel County Police Department is investigating a crash that happened involving a dirt bike and another vehicle in Glen Burnie late Saturday night. Authorities said Tuesday, the driver of the dirt bike died from his injuries.
The accident happened around 11:15 p.m. on Crain Highway North and Jackson Ave. Northwest in Glen Burnie, authorities said.
A Yamaha YZ dirt bike was going southbound on Crain Highway, approaching Jackson Ave. NW, while a Lexus sedan was going northbound on Crain Highway. The sedan was making a left turn onto Jackson Ave.
Authorities said, the bike was operating illegally on the road and no lights were on. The driver of the sedan, Vincent Cornelius Gordon 3rd, 23, of Annapolis, did not see the dirt bike and made the left turn. According to police, the dirt bike and the sedan crashed.
The two people on the bike, Calvin Ronshaye Savoy, 19, of Glen Burnie and the passenger, Charles William Sheffield, 19, of Glen Burnie, were both ejected from the dirt bike.
Police said the driver of the bike died from his injuries on Tuesday. The passenger on the bike was hurt but has non-life threatening injuries and is currently in stable condition. Neither of the two were wearing a helmet, police said.
The driver of the vehicle had minor injuries and was treated at the scene, police said.
According to Anne Arundel County Police, the crash was due to the error made by the dirt bike driver.
In addition, the dirt bike is unregistered and the driver is not licensed, police said.
The accident is still under investigation.
