GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two people face several drug charges following an arrest after a routine traffic stop in Anne Arundel County.
Police officers on patrol in the area of Crain Highway and I-97 in the Glen Burnie area made the stop Thursday morning, where they determined that the driver of the vehicle had a suspended license and placed her under arrest.
A male passenger was requested to exit the vehicle as the tow truck arrived, police said. When the male exited, officers observed in plain view a baggie of crack cocaine on the floorboard in the area where he was seated.
A warrant check was completed on the male passenger and police learned learned that he had an outstanding parole retake warrant and subsequently arrested him.
A search of the vehicle revealed 23 individual baggies of crack cocaine and heroin with a total weight of 7.67 grams combined as well as drug paraphernalia, police said. Due to the way the drugs were packaged, officers also seized $151 in U.S. currency as drug-related proceeds.
The driver, 43-year-old Yavonne Lynne Stewart, of Odenton, Md., and 33-year-old Antron T. Bulow, of Severn, Md., were charged with drug possession, drug possession with intent to distribute, and drug paraphernalia charges.
