HEBRON, Md. (WUSA9) -- Deputy State Fire Marshals are investigating a fire that happened early Tuesday morning and left a 243-year-old church with damages at approximately $500,0000.
The marshals office said the fire happened at 11:12 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, located in the 8700 Memory Gardens Lane.
Several fire departments and about a total of 100 firefighters responded to the three-alarm fire, authorities said.
Authorities said, the cause of the fire is still being investigated, however damages are already at $500,000.
According to authorities, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, also known as Spring Hill Church just celebrated its 240th Anniversary in 2013. The church has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1976, authorities said.
