WALDORF, Md. (AP) - Authorities in Charles County say a fire has burned a number of classroom trailers at a public middle school in Waldorf.
Authorities say the fire at John Hanson Middle School began around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. Officials say the fire gutted 18 temporary classroom trailers. The main building of the school was not affected.
Lt. Jeff Duer of the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department says 120 firefighters responded to the fire.
There were no reports of injuries. Officials say a lighting strike caused the fire. The lightning strike hit the building and then spread throughout the trailers, according to authorities.
According to authorities, the estimate cost for damages is at $1,000,000.
