SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA 9) -- Montgomery County Police reported two fatal motorcycle accidents in Maryland on Friday.
In Silver Spring, police say that around 5 p.m. a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle struck the curb on the right side of the road while travelling east on University Boulevard West at the intersection of Dennis Avenue and University. The victim, Kyle Brett Faulkner, 43, of Beltsville, was ejected from the motorcycle and died from his injuries at a local hospital. Police say they are still investigating the accident.
In a second accident, that occurred in Burtonsville, police say a 2007 Honda CR-V turning left off of Birmingham Drive onto westbound Sandy Spring Road collided with a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle that was traveling eastbound on Sandy Spring. A female passenger was ejected from the motorcycle and died from injuries at a local hospital. She has not yet been identified.
Police say the driver of the motorcycle, Carlos Vinicius De Oliveira, 33, of Laurel, Maryland was taken to a local hospital with critical, but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the CR-V, Allan Francis Mulligan, 82, of Burtonsville suffered a minor injury. His passenger, Helene Cromwell Mulligan, 78, was uninjured.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this collision is also ongoing.
