Officials say a combination of smoke alarms and barking dogs awakened the family. When Montgomery County fire crews arrived, the garage fire was spreading to the home, located at 24421 Ridge Road.

Two adults, four children and two dogs were accounted for and not injured. We're told the parents grabbed the children and evacuated the house.

Allegheny Power was also on scene, where power lines were down after the fire.

EMS units evaluated two firefighters for minor injuries, one with possible heat exhaustion and one with a possible ankle injury.

Route 27 (Ridge Road.) between Kings Valley Road and Sweepstakes Road was closed while firefighters were on scene but has since reopened.

Fire officials say the fire was accidental. The damage is estimated at $150,000, including vehicle damage.
