PASADENA, Md. (WUSA9) -- A Glen Burnie man was arrested Monday morning after he and two other men tried to run from police, Anne Arundel County police say.

Patrol officers say they came upon Samuel Johnathon Jones, 18, and two other men congregating in an area that clearly posted no loitering.

The officers approached the group and told the individuals to stay where they were. The group ignored the commands and began to flee, police say.

Officers say they saw Jones get rid of suspected drugs and a handgun before running toward Whitaker and New Freetown Road, where he was apprehended after a foot chase.
