UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Prince George's County Police Department is investigating a collision that left one person dead in Upper Marlboro Tuesday afternoon.

Police said deputies responded the the 11200 block of Croom Road around 2:15 p.m. for the report of a crash involving an SUV. According to authorities, the driver died a shortly after the accident in the hospital.

Authorities have not identified the victim as of yet.

Investigation shows that the driver was going southbound on Croom Road, when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the road and hit a tree. Authorities still do not know why the vehicle left the road.
