ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- Authorities said a man is in serious but stable condition after being hit by a vehicle in Anne Arundel County, Md. around noon Monday.
The Anne Arundel County Traffic Safety Section responded to the accident on southbound Ft. Smallwood Road close to Kembo Road in Baltimore at 12:14 p.m.
Authorities said the pedestrian, John Scott Ford Jr. was working on a water line in the slow lane. Ford was about 10 feet away from his vehicle. There was an activated arrow board instructing drivers to go to the left lane, authorities said.
The driver of a freightliner tractor did no see the arrow board and pushed the arrow board into Ford's vehicle which then hit the man.
Ford was taken to the hospital and is now in serious but stable condition authorities said.
Police said the driver of the tractor trailer was not paying attention on the road. However, the investigation continues.
The driver of the tractor trailer is Christopher Clark Rabel, 42, of Baltimore, Md.
