GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Anne Arundel County police say a 43-year-old woman who was found dead in a Glen Burnie gynecologist office had been arrested on May 3.
The victim, 43-year-old Christie Lynn Pelland of Pasadena, was found dead at the Medical Arts Centre of Glen Burnie located at 325 Hospital Drive at 8:45 a.m. Monday.
An employee found Pelland, who worked as a cleaner in the building, inside the gynecologist office with obvious signs of upper body trauma, police say.
We're told Pelland worked as a cleaner for Spiritual Cleaning and she cleaned several offices inside of the building.
Police say Pelland was stopped on May 3 during a traffic stop after a shooting in Glen Burnie at the Royal Farms store. Pelland was arrested on an outstanding warrant for a drug-related charge for a December 2013 incident. At that time, detectives had not linked her as a suspect in the Royal Farms store shooting, which is still under investigation.
Investigation into her death shows that there were no signs of forced entry into the building and it does not appear to be a burglary. Authorities believe it may be a targeted incident.
Detectives are currently investigating both incidents to determine if they are related and what role if any it may have played in her death.
